Psalm 103:12
"As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us."
At our Good Friday service at church Ben Parkinson spoke about what Christ did on the cross for us. He explained in extreme detail exactly what "death by crucifiction" entailed. There was not one dry eye in the house (I was in serious need of a kleenex). He had a huge cross leaning against the bottom of the stage - when he spoke of the nails being driven into Christ's hands he would hammer the cross. I can still hear that sound today. It resonated through the church, straight through to my heart.
After he enlightened us to the horrific crucifiction death our Savior endured for us, he told us that when we carry around guilt for the sin that is in our past we are telling Christ that what He did on that cross - wasn't good enough.
At the end of the service we wrote down the "guilt baggage" that we carry around with us daily - sins we have been forgiven for, but continue to let ourselves be burdened with. We took our slips of paper to the front and nailed them to the cross. And as we turned to go back to our seats, we were turning our back on the sins of our past and leaving them at the cross.
It was a moment in my life that I will never forget.
Thank you Heavenly Father that you have taken my sins as far as the East is from the West.
